Kitchener Youth Action Council is preparing amazing nominations for awards such as Arts and Culture, Caregiving, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Leadership, Sports and Recreation, Unity in Diversity, and more. Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo is sponsoring the Social Action and Justice Award as in previous years. Nominate and support a young person you have seen in action and help us make an impact on many young people in our city. Save the date for the Awards Ceremony, May 7 from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Rotunda at Kitchener City Hall.

20th Anniversary Special Neighbourhood Awards

We are celebrating the 20th year of the Festival of Neighbourhoods with special awards at the Festival Finale: The Mayor's Challenge, Tamarack Seeking Community Award, and Steadfast Neighbourhood Award. As always, the Ward Challenge is on! This year, you can track as activities appear on the interactive map of Kitchener Wards, and as well see what $10 000 grant winners have done in their neighbourhoods. 2013 Social Action and Justice Award Winner is Hannah Wynen!

The 16th Annual Kitchener Youth Action Council (KYAC) Awards were held in the Rotunda at Kitchener City Hall May 1st, 2013. Fahima Anwar, President of the Socila Planning Council Kitchener-Waterloo Board of Directors, and Nathan Pike, Secretary presented the Social Action and Justice Award on behalf of the Social Planning Council.

This year’s winner is an exceptional youth who, even at her young age, has impacted many lives in our community.

Trudy Beaulne Receives Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

The Executive Director of the SocialPlanning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo is one of the recipients of the medal for the outstanding contribution to Canada, particularly as a community builder and a member of the non-profit sector organization in Ontario. The recognition came through a Waterloo Award 2012 recipient, Narine Sookram, who is awarding a number of Medals to those who are making a difference in Ontario.
