Mayor's Challenge Kick Off

As part of its 20th season, Festival of Neighbourhoods is asking citizens of Kitchener to share stories about what their neighbourhood means to them. The Mayor’s Challenge Contest kicks off the Summer Festival of Neighbourhoods Season, asks simply that you submit a story in the medium of your choice, and the winning entry author and his/her neighbours will win a walking tour with the Mayor!

Find us this weekend at the Tremaine Park Charity BBQ and Animate the Trail events to learn more, or do not lose another moment to read through the contest details and the submission form!

Marigold Park Grand Opening at Topper Woods

Marigold Park was the happiest place in the whole large Topper Woods! The grand opening of the park was celebrated on May 10th, with the red ribbon cut and a cake! Festival of Neighbourhoods bunch enjoyed telling stories of before and after, and how the weeds and shrubs turned to the most lively patch of green for young and old equally.

Festival of Neighbourhoods Shares the Spirit

The Festival of Neighbourhoods Team presented at yesterday's Kitchener Council Meeting and shared some of the stories, that go back to 1994. We will celebrate neighbours that have been with us for 20 years, and have special awards. The Early Bird prizes were announced as well, the Alpine Community won a prize for their Free Skate Day, and Edgewater Estates won a swim party from the City of Kitchener for their Snow Day in the Park. The new Early Bird Deadline is June 30th and stay tuned for more surprises!

March E-Neighbour Released

The new E-Neighbour is out, introducing this year's theme "20 Years of Celebrating Neighbours!". We wish to share our pride in what we have accomplished together, and to take a look ahead into the year, announcing exciting initiatives and activities. Expecting your Early Bird registrations before the next deadline on March 31st for all the activities organized since October 2012!

Alpine Neighbourhood wins Early Bird Prize

Kitchener Festival of Neighbourhoods 20th season has awarded it's first Early Bird, Alpine Community Neighbourhood, who has registered a Free Skate Day activity in December 2012. This winter activity has brought the summer time prize from Grand River Inflatables and Games, our new year round sponsor. Register often and you will bring fun to your neighbourhood gatherings!

Decide if it will be the neighbours on your street, or a larger area, and invite them all. Check out this useful invitation card in PDF & Word document. It is full of ideas for winter activities. Fill it out and deliver it to everyone in your neighbourhood!

2012 Festival of Neighbourhoods wraps up with the Finale

Everyone wins when they come together with their neighbours!

Neighbourhood heroes from all over the city gathered on Sunday, October 21st, to celebrate and share their experience to inspire us all to come together with our neighbours. This year we received 77 registrations, with participation from 47 neighbourhoods.
