Project Goals
The project is community-based:
Extensive community outreach has been done to engage organizations interested in building capacity for individual community members and the social support sector.
Host sites will provide Internet access points at a range of geographic locations across Kitchener-Waterloo, ensuring maximum access for all community members.
Specialized host sites will provide access points for all of the vulnerable population groups targeted by Industry Canada.
The project will build community:
The community vision adopted by this project will be implemented at the site level through site vision and strategic planning to develop the site's programs and services for their community and/or target population.
Sites and project contributors will be linked on-line to establish a network to encourage communication and joint efforts that can increase sustainability of the network overall.
Facilitation, training, face-to-face opportunities and resource exchanges will build relationships for shared resources, mentoring and continued joint efforts.
Continued participation on the Waterloo Region CAP Working Group will allow us to share information and collaborate with other CAP initiatives in the area.
The project will focus on local content:
Local community information content will be provided through specialized software and web site applications.
Site generated content will contribute to local content through Websites and possible pilot projects.
The project will increase the information and services available to community members through the host sites
The project will develop the capacity of organizations by encouraging the integration of Internet access services into services already provided by the organizations.
