Resuming tax clinics

Tax season is almost upon us. We appreciate your trust during the pandemic, and we will continue to keep the pace in responding to appointment requests for tax filing both virtually and face to face. We haven't stopped providing the year-round service and brought over 2,5 million to the community in accessed benefits. Currently we are busy recruiting a team of new volunteers to support our existing team. We are recruiting immigrant and refugee individuals with previous financial and accounting backgrounds (see the call to join the training) to make sure as many low-modest income individuals can take advantage of our free financial empowerment service. More and more benefits are being distributed through our  tax clinic, including Ontario Electricity Support benefit and continue administering Low-income Energy Assistance Program.

Benefits and/or credits include:

  • Climate Action Incentive (all Ontario residents, eligible regardless of income)
  • Ontario Trillium Benefit that includes Ontario Sales Tax Credit, Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, and the Northern Ontario Energy Credit
  • Ontario and Canada Child Benefit
  • GDT/HST credit
  • Working Income tax benefit
  • Ontario Senior Homeowners’ property tax grant

Please contact Lesley Crompton if you wish to join the volunteer training at lesley@waterlooregion.org.

For appointments for tax filing, please make sure to email tax-clinic@waterlooregion.org or call 519-579-3800 extension 5.
