'Blackout to SpeakOut' Campaign
Yesterday, Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo joined over 13,000 other organizations across Canada in a website blackout.
Submission to the Commission for the Review of Social Assistance in Ontario
On Wednesday February 29th, the Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo and its partners in the K-W Poverty Free Action Group hosted a forum to engage members of the Kitchener-Waterloo community to discuss and give input on the first three chapters of the Social Assistance Review Commission discussion paper.
Choice in Tax Credit Payments Coming
The Income Security Advocacy Centre (ISAC) has information about changes in how some tax credits will be paid to low income people in Ontario. Two information sheets – one on the change to monthly delivery and another on the related issue of the negative implications of using tax preparation companies to file tax returns – are available on the ISAC website.
ODSP Action Coalition MPP Lobby Kit
The ODSP Action Coalition has created a lobby kit for advocates to use in meetings with their MPPs on the Social Assistance Review.
