2001: Brown Bag Lunch Speakers Series

In 2001, the Good Ideas Group organized the Brown Bag Lunch Speakers Series. The purpose:

  1. To provide an opportunity for people in Waterloo Region to continue to discuss healthy community principles and issues with a focus on moving beyond the visions to implementation.
  2. To provide an opportunity for people in Waterloo Region to engage in discussions with people from other regions about their experience with implementation of municipal visioning exercises.
  3. To identify learnings that we can use in our own work with local and regional governments.

Lynne Simons, Regional Municipality of Halton
Lynne Simons is a Senior Policy Analyst and has been involved with healthy communities activities for a number of years. The Regional Municipality of Halton has been a front-runner in the areas of healthy communities integration and planning.

Bill Janssen, City of Hamilton
Bill Janssen worked as part of the staff advisory groups for Vision 2020. His current position as Manager of Strategic Community Planning, Long-range Planning & Design Division continues to include the work of Action 2020. He is able to provide us with valuable insight and wisdom regarding implementation of healthy communities principles within community planning.
