Homelessness Awareness Week is happening May 5th to 11th, 2013.
Please see the attached document for events and activities that commemorate this important week of advocacy, education and action.
The Stepping Up and Speaking Up events in particular focus on the importance of walking together and sharing experiences about the realities of homelessness in the search for realistic solutions to poverty and homelessness.
Stepping Up
When: Monday May 6th 2013, 11:30am -1:00pm
What: Join us for a silent walk with masks to raise awareness of homelessness in the Waterloo Region and begin to work towards solutions. The walk route will take about 40 minutes to an hour, and refreshments will be provided.
11:30 am – Ramp up at Waterloo Public Square, 75 King St S, Waterloo, ON
Walker registration and organizing - walkers will get instructions and materials will be handed out
12:00pm – Walk leaves Waterloo Public Square
Route is down King Street towards Kitchener
1:00 pm – Arrive at Kitchener City Hall, 200 King St. W, Kitchener

Speaking Up
When: Tuesday, May 7th, 1:00- 2:30pm
What: Speakers from all walks of life will discuss personal experiences of homelessness as well as challenges of service provision in the Waterloo Region. Light Refreshments will be served.
Where: Kitchener City Hall, Rotunda, 200 King St. W, Kitchener
1:00 – 2:30pm – Speakers and panel presentations
