The Regional Municipality of Waterloo invites funding proposals for the Federal Government of Canada's, Supporting Communities Partnership Initiative (SCPI). Approximate total funding of $804,000 is available for the time period of mid April, 2002 until March 31, 2003. All activities eligible for the SCPI must fit within the program's objectives and the Waterloo Region Community Homelessness Plan.
Some key areas that will be considered for funding include but are not limited to:
emergency shelter spaces;
transitional and supportive housing;
supportive health and employment services;
prevention strategies;
outreach services that link homeless people with resources;
multi-service centres that provide food, clothing, showers, hygiene services, service referrals etc.
initiatives that strengthen the capacity of community organizations to conduct strategic planning and board training, access educational opportunities and encourage multi-sectoral and multi-organizational partnerships; and
other activities that form part of a continuum of supports approach to reduce homelessness
Proposal applications will be available between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and may be obtained from the Regional Purchasing and Materials Management Division, 4th Floor, 150 Frederick Street, Kitchener, Ontario, N2G 4J3.
Those submitting proposals are encouraged to attend an important information meeting being held on Thursday, February 28, 2002, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., 99 Regina Street, Room 210, Waterloo ON.
Sealed proposals clearly marked as to contents shall be received by the undersigned until 10:00 a.m., local time, Monday, March 11, 2002.
