1) What we’ve Accomplished
- 2 presentations in 2 different communities
- 2 “Shout Out” days
- Toronto conference
- Door button moved
- Meetings with other self advocacy groups like Opening Doors
- Shared what we’ve learned with others
- Helped others through mentoring
- Connected with the media
- Did some fundraising
2) Other Things We’ve Gained
- Feel more self confident
- Personal growth (understanding myself and others)
- Feel this group is a safe place for me to have an opinion
- Experience in working as a group
- Experience in working with other groups
3) What We Want to Do Over the Next Year
Educate ourselves and others about our issues
- Identify the issues most important to us right now
- Learn more about these issues so we can go and talk to others about it
Get more organized around issues
- Find other groups like ours and see what they’re doing
- Find other groups not like us and see what they’re doing
- Learn more about planning our future as a group
- Decide what our membership is/should be
- Find resources to support our work
Be more visible in the community
- Do new events to promote our own issues (e.g. all-candidates’ meetings)
- Keep having “Shout Out” events
