The Kitchener Festival of Neighbourhoods Organising Committee is seeking an action oriented community animator for the 2009 Festival. The successful candidate has proven communication and organizational skills, is committed to values of community and community connectedness, understands the Kitchener community and its various facets, has highly developed people skills and can take up the reigns to keep a successful initiative going and growing.
Part Time Contract Position – March – August 2009
PURPOSE: To work with the Festival Operational Committee, neighbourhood participants, and other community volunteers and partners to achieve an outstanding 16th Kitchener Festival of Neighbourhoods that builds on its successes and prepares the ground for further development.
SCOPE OF WORK: The Animator will work with the Operational Committee and coordinate available resources to introduce innovations as needed to excite and ignite neighbourhood action and ensure the implementation of current procedures to achieve the following:
- Sustained or increased level of neighbourhood and neighbourhood leadership involvement;
- Coordinated and strengthened involvement of current partners and contributors;
- Supervision of summer student ambassador;
- Recruitment and coordination of volunteers;
- Continuity in FoN administration and documentation; and
- A foundation for a successful 2009 finale event.
